Mariah Meek

Mariah first discovered the joys of yoga in 1997 and has been a dedicated practitioner ever since. She has explored many styles of yoga and studied extensively with masters of vinyasa, Sivananda, and Anusara yoga. In 2003, she took her first Anusara yoga class and knew she had found her path.

Mariah's classes offer a joyous blend of movement and alignment and are always designed to get the student in touch with the great joy of being. Through her classes, you will find deeper access to the body and greater opening of the heart.

Always a student, she is eternally grateful for the knowledge and support of all of her teachers, past and present. She is especially blessed by the light and wisdom of her most influential teachers: John Friend, Sianna Sherman, Michael Fukumura, and Kia Meaux.

Elisa Maya

Elisa Maya's practice began in her mother's womb in 1979. After a lifetime of granola and no-television, Maya finally gave in and started her own practice at age 18. When Maya was 24, she followed in her genetic footsteps and became an Ashtanga Yoga instructor.

Now 27, she continues to enjoy sharing with others the benefits that yoga has bestowed upon her. Her daily personal practice informs and sustains her good spirit and excellent health.

Maya studies with Tim Miller, thought by many to be one of the most wonderful Yoga teachers in the world. In Davis she is honored to study with Kia Meaux and Sarana Miller. Elisa Maya's classes are strengthening, lighthearted and attentive to tradition and form.

Bhavana Mody

Bhavana Mody is new to Davis and is eager to work with a new group of students. Bhavana was exposed to yoga at a very young age, through prayers with her grandmother, visits to Hindu temples, and a significant amount of time spent in India. She takes pride in her Indian culture and loves to share this aspect of life in her yoga teaching.

Bhavana was introduced to Hatha yoga while living in the Bay Area. She received her Hatha Yoga teacher certification at Greenpath Yoga in San Francisco. Bhavana studied Hatha yoga with Kia Meaux for over a year in Marin. She has also studied with Maya Lev in Santa Cruz, where she developed an Iyengar practice.

In her classes, Bhavana offers a unique combination of Vinyasa, Hatha and Iyengar styles. Her classes consist of some Pranayama breathwork, in-depth study of particular poses, and a gentle flow of asanas. Her goal is to awaken her students’ awareness of the more subtle expressions of their bodies.

Betsy Faber

Betsy Faber compassionately teaches a balanced style of vinyasa flow and deeply restorative asanas. She has been practicing yoga since 2001 and completed the Bo Tree Teacher Training program in Davis, CA in 2004. A lifelong gymnast and athlete, Betsy found yoga in an effort to heal her body and develop mind-body balance. She guides a heart-opening practice and loves supporting others on their authentic path.

In 2004, Betsy embarked on an 18-month journey to explore yoga, cooking, backpacking and writing in Asia and the South Pacific. She practiced in residence at the Yoga Oasis Rainforest Retreat in Hawaii and participated in walking meditations for peace with the Spirit in Education Movement in Thailand and Buddha Smiles in India. She also taught yoga at Lochmara Lodge Eco-Retreat in New Zealand and enjoyed mountaintop practices while backpacking throughout the country.

Betsy is deeply grateful to her many teachers in Davis and throughout the world, and looks forward to a lifelong exploration of yoga.

Jessica Wecker

Jess' passion for physical activity began with gymnastics at the age of 2, culminating with a competitive career by the age of 9. Later on, in her teenage years, Jess was influenced by soccer, field hockey, and the interplay of teamwork. In her college years, Jess sought a balanced way to achieve physical health and peace while juggling the demands of student and working life, ending her search with the practices of both yoga and Yamuna Body Rolling.

In the yoga world, Jess first studied Ashtanga yoga, and, she participated in The Bo Tree teacher training in 2004, shortly after graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. 2006 was a memorable yoga year for Jess as she became Yoga Alliance Certified, studied Tibetan Yoga, and completed the AcroYoga teacher training.
